About Us

Business and Professional Service specializes in billing for Emergency Medical Services, Anesthesiology and other types of hospital based physicians. Our Collection Department staff handles accounts from over 200 different types of practices. By utilizing continuing education through training and seminars, we strive to keep our staff well informed on all laws and regulations pertinent to our industry.

Business and Professional Service was established in 1932 as the Medical Exchange and Information Bureau and was then owned by the Bexar County Medical Society. It was a service organization for the medical and dental profession in San Antonio. The company was acquired by Ferne and John Wood in 1941, who renamed it Business and Professional Service (BPS), to reflect the fact that it could service all grantors. In 1959, the firm was incorporated as Medical-Dental-Hospital Bureau of San Antonio, Inc., with the d/b/a of Business and Professional Service. In 1964, Thomas R. Benesch purchased the business and remains actively involved as the owner and President.
